Our Mission

There will be one-to-one support for mothers to help meet the developmental, physical, and emotional needs of their baby and support for the whole family. We will actively encourage the involvement of partners, family members and friends. As a parent/parents, this helps to establish clarity and remove some of the initial worries and concerns related to uncertainty. By discussing and understanding the aims and objectives, will help you to determine how these will be met. Ferntree Family Centre will provide you and your child/children a safe environment where we can support and advise you on achieving the set objectives.Ferntree’s purpose is to work with all those involved in the lives of children referred to the service, to provide and plan for their best possible care and the longer-term future. Ferntree believes that what is significant for children, is their day-to-day experience of being parented now and in the future, not the diagnosis of their parent’s difficulties.
Our commitment will always be to the immediate and long-term safety and wellbeing of all our resident children. We offer an inclusive service that is accessible to all vulnerable families regardless of race, back-ground, religion, gender and or any disabilities

These interventions aim to strengthen the bond between parent and child, promote emotional healing, and support the family’s journey towards a healthier, more stable future.

One-to-One Parental Support

We offer personalised support sessions designed to help parents address the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of their children. These one-to-one sessions provide guidance on day-to-day parenting challenges and offer parents the tools they need to build stronger, healthier relationships with their children.

PAMS Assessments

Specialised Parenting Assessment Manual (PAMS) assessments are available for parents with additional learning needs. These assessments provide a structured approach to evaluating parenting skills and help identify areas where focused support is required, ensuring that parents are equipped to meet their children's needs.

Freedom Programme

Our Freedom Programme is designed to support parents who have experienced domestic abuse. It provides a safe space for parents to rebuild their confidence, understand the impact of abuse on their children, and take steps toward creating a safer, more positive home environment.

Assessments

At Ferntree Family Centre, we provide thorough and evidence-based parenting assessments designed to support families and safeguard children. Our assessments focus on understanding parenting capacity, family dynamics, and the individual needs of both parents and children. We work closely with local authorities, courts, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive evaluation that informs the best decisions for the family’s future. Our assessment process is compassionate, fair, and tailored to each family’s unique situation, with the child’s safety and wellbeing always at the forefront.

12-Week Parenting Assessments

Our comprehensive 12-week assessments evaluate parenting skills, focusing on the parent’s ability to meet the emotional, physical, and developmental needs of their child. Throughout this period, we observe family interactions, provide support, and offer feedback, ensuring that the assessment is both thorough and tailored to each family’s specific circumstances. The process includes midway and final reviews to track progress and inform future decisions.

6-Week Midway Assessments

This shorter assessment is designed to review the progress of parents halfway through the residential period. It allows us to evaluate the changes made by the parent and identify areas that still need development. These findings are discussed with the parents and shared with local authorities to help adjust the support plan if necessary.

PAMS Assessments

We offer specialised Parenting Assessment Manual (PAMS) assessments, specifically designed for parents with additional learning needs. PAMS assessments break down parenting skills into manageable sections, allowing us to identify gaps in knowledge and offer targeted support. These assessments provide a structured and accessible approach to understanding parenting capacity.

Risk Assessments

Our risk assessments evaluate the safety and wellbeing of children within the family unit. These assessments identify any potential risks to the child’s health or development, ensuring that the necessary safeguarding measures are in place. We work closely with local authorities and other professionals to monitor these risks throughout the assessment period.

Feasibility Assessments

Feasibility assessments determine whether it is safe and appropriate for parents and children to remain together during the assessment process. This type of evaluation considers the risks, the potential for positive change, and the resources available to support the family, helping inform placement decisions
